The old Dover Cemetery is all but invisible from the road save for a few heavily worn headstones peeking out from a family plot overgrown with long, dry grass and pine saplings. Further back, some of the more recent headstones have been tended to, but a collapsed wire fence and thickets of brambles stand as evidence of years of neglect.

Voices from the Past cemetery tour

The third annual Voices from the Past Cemetery Tour will be held at the Oxford Historic Cemetery on Oct. 13. The cemetery is located on Highway 81 just north of Oxford. The tour entrance will be on the corner of Asbury and Collingwood streets. There will be two sessions, one at 5 p.m. and one at 6:45 p.m. Guests should arrive 10 minutes prior to the appointed time to be in place for the start of the tour. People booked on the later tour might want to bring a flashlight.

Andrew Sabori painted murals of rock-n-roll artists Jimi Hendrix and Jim Morrison when they were still up-and-comers playing in The Fillmore in San Francisco.
