Man’s body found in charred car identified

The body found inside the charred remains of a car on New Year's Eve was the victim of a homicide according to investigators from the Newton County Sheriff's Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

Remains found in burning vehicle

On Wednesday evening at approximately 10:45 pm. Newton County Sheriff's Office Deputies were dispatched to McGiboney Lane off Spring Rd. in reference to a report of a vehicle fire. When Deputies and Newton County Firefighters arrived they located the burning vehicle on some vacant property off McGiboney Lane. As the fire was being extinguished, authorities located the unidentified remains of a body in the charred vehicle.
