Charles "Pete" L. Smith of Covington passed away July 27, 2016, at the age of 74. Charles was a member of Christ Cornerstone Church. He was retired from Mobile Chemical Company and the Newton County Board of Education. He was also employed by Martha Mills of Thomaston, Georgia and the state of Georgia.
Jimmy Dale Anderson, 69, of Conyers, Georgia passed away July 23, 2016. Mr. Anderson was born in Ballinger, Texas to the late Walter and Olga Buffalo. He served honorably in the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam era.
Hubert Ray Pye, 61 of Loganville, passed away Monday, July 25, 2016. He was a loving husband, brother and uncle. Ray enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He was an avid outdoorsman who also enjoyed gardening.
James "Jimmy" V. Brown, 70 of Mansfield passed away peacefully at his home, Wednesday, July 27, 2016. He was born in Madison, Georgia to Winford and Eloise Brown. Jimmy was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was the owner-operator of Brown's Lawn Care. Jimmy is preceded in death by both parents; his loving wife of 50 years Martha Jean Howard Brown in December of 2015; his daughter Jennifer Brown in 1972; and brother Kenneth Brown.

Eli Murphy of Mansfield passed away July 19, 2016, at the age of 30. Eli enjoyed working on his farm, fishing and deer hunting. In addition, he liked going to the beach, sailing and playing horseshoes with his brother-in-law, Marc Tucker. A devoted husband and father, Eli cherished the time spent with his family and had the kindest spirit to anyone that he saw in need. He had a real servant's heart.

Mrs. Rosie Lee Strange, age 94, of Covington passed away July 10. 2016. She was born June 2, 1922 in Jersey, Georgia to her parents Ponder and Sarah McIntosh Lawhorn who have preceded her in death. Mrs. Strange worked for and retired from Pacific Uniform Company in Conyers. She was Methodist by faith and enjoyed working in her yard and gardening. Jack Tallman, 47, of Covington, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2016. Jack lived life to the fullest and valued the simple things. He liked going to the mountains, trout fishing, hunting, racing and loved to cook. In addition, he enjoyed watching Law and Order and Criminal Minds. Jack dearly cherished the time spent with family, including his beloved dogs Bella and Buddy. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
