Jack Tallman, 47, of Covington, passed away Thursday, July 7, 2016. Jack lived life to the fullest and valued the simple things. He liked going to the mountains, trout fishing, hunting, racing and loved to cook. In addition, he enjoyed watching Law and Order and Criminal Minds. Jack dearly cherished the time spent with family, including his beloved dogs Bella and Buddy. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Anna "Ruth" Harp Crowe, 77, of Monroe, died on July 7, 2016. She was born in Cookeville, Tennessee on July 5, 1939, to the late Mary Hayes Harp and the late Fred Joe Harp. She was preceded in death by her daughter, the late Vickie Bryant Wood.
Virginia Lancaster Manning, 86 of Covington, passed away July 1, 2016. Manning was known in the community as a faithful member of Lovejoy United Methodist Church. She served as church secretary of First United Methodist Church, in Covington, from 1977 – 2006. She served both churches with a passion. Her hobbies included needlework and drawing. She was a devoted wife and mother. Manning was born and raised in Bent Mountain, Virginia, where she was valedictorian of her high school class and was chosen May Queen. Eula Mae "Maw Maw" Smith, 91 of Porterdale, passed away peacefully at Riverside Health Care, Wednesday, June 29, 2016. She was born in Porterdale to the late Troy and Lona Mann Rutledge. Eula Mae attended Tabernacle of Praise. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, who loved her family and the Lord beyond measure. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 51 years, Virgil Smith; and children Troy Smith, Sonny Smith, and Peggy Avant.
James "Sam" Allgood, Sr., 71, of Sparta. passed away June 23, 2016. An Oxford native, Allgood and his wife, Frances moved to Sparta in 2006. He retired from Ginn Motor Company after 20 years of service. A true car lover, he was especially fond of muscle cars. Mr. Allgood was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, and he will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wiley Sr., and Roberta (Cook) Allgood.
