Vacant house burns west of downtown

COVINGTON, Ga. – Firefighters from the Covington and Newton County Fire Departments braved near-freezing temperatures to battle a house fire just west of downtown Covington Thursday night.

According to a CFD spokesperson, units were dispatched to a report of a fully involved vacant house at 3124 Usher St. at 9:17 p.m. A fire investigator was reportedly requested to the scene.
