Mrs. Debbie Lynn Yarbrough, 46, of Covington, died Oct. 20. Mrs. Yarbrough, whose father was a missionary, was raised in west Texas and Mexico and moved to Covington in 1981. She married Mr. Joe Yarbrough in 1982. Mrs. Yarbrough was preceded in death by daughter Elisha Yarbrough.

Surviving are husband Joe Yarbrough of Covington; children Kristy and Charles McDaniel of Monroe, Joe Yarbrough Jr. of Covington, Holly and David Mackie of Groveland, Fla.; one brother; three sisters; grandchildren Kristi McDaniel and Brandon Mackie; numerous nieces, nephews, other family and close friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Oct. 24, in the chapel of Harwell-Wheeler Funeral Home with the Rev. Doyle Bell officiating. Interment will follow in the Covington Mills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Association.

Thoughts on 9/11

This could be one of those generational things perhaps, but I think it's more in the way of a universal matter of compassion, awareness and plain shock that transcends any era. It's a simple question really, but riveting in its directness - do you remember where you were when you heard about the 9/11 attacks? Sept. 11, 2001 - a day containing events so unimaginable, they still defy comprehension.
