The Covington Regional Ballet will be holding Nutcracker auditions this Saturday. Auditions are open to children 5 years and older. No dance experience is necessary. The Nutcracker will be performed on Dec. 13 and Dec. 14 as part of the Arts Association in Newton County's annual arts series.
Participants will be auditioning for small roles to complete the cast of the ballet. These roles include but are not limited to angels, deer, mice, and sweets. A $100 fee to participate in the ballet is required with scholarships available through the Arts Association. Fees are due at a later date.
Auditions will take place at Mainstream Dance in the Lula Building on Church Street from 9 a.m. - 10 a.m. for children ages 5-6 (bring photo in any ballet pose); from 10:15 a.m. - 11 a.m. for children ages 7-8 (bring photo in tendu a la seconde); from 11:15 a.m. - noon for children ages 9 and up (bring photo in arabesque).
Girls should wear a ballet leotard, tights and ballet shoes with their hair pulled back. Boys should wear a white T-shirt, black shorts and socks. For more information, contact the Arts Association office at (770) 786-8188 or by e-mail at acoggin@newtoncountyarts.org.
