Over 35 pieces of art created by students from NCSS were put on display in Legion Field as an homage to Black History Month.
The first day of the exhibit was on Feb. 12, with the event lasting until Feb. 16.
Among the schools representing the NCSS in the art exhibit were Alcovy High School, Cousins Middle School, East Newton Elementary, Fairview Elementary, Indian Creek Middle School, Middle Ridge Elementary, Newton County STEAM Academy, Newton High School, South Salem Elementary and West Newton Elementary.
A social media post from the official city of Covington Facebook thanked everyone involved in the project.
“We would like to thank the students for sharing their gifts with our community; Ms. Karen Anderson, Ed.S, for coordinating with art teachers throughout the district to obtain the art; the parents and guardians who nurture the talents of the students; and the gifted art teachers who have shared their love of art with their students,” read an official Facebook post from the city of Covington.
