Bike Fest rolls into downtown

Get your motor running this weekend as the inaugural Fall Covington Bike Fest comes to the downtown square. Proceeds will benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

The event will run from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday (Oct. 13), and will feature vendors, a motorcycle show, motorcycle games, live music, 50/50 drawings, food and more.

It will be a "fun-filled family day,’’ said organizer R.W. Carden, a member of the Southern Cruisers Riding Club. The club, Carden said, was founded 20 years in Memphis and has grown to be an international organization.

This is the first time a Fall Covington Bike Fest has been held, Carden said, but past spring events have drawn up to 3,500 participants in good weather. He is hoping for "as many people as we can fit in the square’’ to come out for the day.

Musical acts will include Southern Steel, Taylor Marie and The Big Don Band.
