COVINGTON, Ga. - On Jan. 1, the locally-owned Jones Automotive opened its 12 service bays, each one extra tall and accommodating up to 12,000-pound vehicles.

The new firm provides an array of vehicle repair services and new tires, making it one of the largest repair centers in Newton County. Jones Automotive was created by the owner, Mike Jones, having dropped his Midas franchise after 32 years of partnership.

"The decision was based on a desire to be completely independent in order to provide the latest in automotive technology and more convenient service to our customers," Jones said. "Our new facility is much larger, highly visible and provides easier access than the former Midas location.”

The new company employs 14 highly-trained and experienced technicians, most of whom have been associated with Jones for many years. Services include new tires and just about any vehicle repair other than bodywork; from the two 15-minute oil change bays to 10 additional bays designated to the repair of engines, brakes, suspension systems, heating and air conditioning, radiators and transmissions.

“We fix everything from headlights to tailpipes,” Jones said.

The new Jones Automotive building is situated next to the Waffle House at the corner of Highway 278 and Covington Bypass Road. Appointments are helpful, but not necessary.
