COVINGTON, Ga. - Newton County resident and president of the State Bar of Georgia Brian D. “Buck” Rogers addressed the Newton County Bar Association during a lunchtime meeting at Irish Bred Pub & Restaurant Sept. 20.
Rogers updated the local lawyers on positive changes being made within committees within the state bar. Some of the changes include ensuring due process for judges who are under investigation by the judicial qualification committee for alleged ethical violations and restructuring the continuing legal education committee to reduce costs. He also spoke about updates being made to the state bar website and the bar directory.
According to Newton County Bar Association (NCBA) president Emily Moore, NCBA is a voluntary bar association whose members are comprised of lawyers, judges, and elected officials from the surrounding area. NCBA provides the opportunity for members to connect and offers a forum for speakers to inform members about important issues in the legal community.
