Recently the Newton County Coroner's Office and the Covington Police Department partnered together to purchase 2 Rapid ID Fingerprint scanners. These devices are used to positively identify persons and can be used by both agencies to confirm wanted persons or to positively identify deceased person who have no identification on them at the time of their death.  The purchases of this unit have already been used by both agencies and have proven to be a positive asset for both agencies.
