NEWTON COUNTY – The Newton County Board of Commissioners have opted to cancel their May 21 meeting.

A public notice was sent to The Covington News on Friday confirming the cancellation of the meeting, stating that it will be rescheduled at a later date.

It is not clear as to why the meeting was canceled.

The next scheduled meeting for the Newton County Board of Commissioners is June 4.
