Structure Fire Training to take place near City Pond

OXFORD, Ga. - The Newton County Fire Services and Covington Fire Department will conduct a structural fire joint training class on a structure located at 274 Williams Road, Oxford, on Wednesday, April 17.

The structure to be burnt as part of the training is located at the corner of City Pond Road and Williams Road, across from the City Pond Recreation Complex. The training will begin at 7 a.m. and continue until 7 p.m.

Please use caution in the area and expect intermittent road closures on Williams Road during this period.

Developers seek to build ‘Project Paradise’ in Newton County

NEWTON COUNTY – A new development could soon find its way to Newton County. According to a Development of Regional Impact (DRI) filing with the Georgia Department of Community Affairs, a company called Euphoric Development is seeking to build “Project Paradise” in the area of Old Atlanta Highway. The DRI filing was made on Jan. 30 and completed earlier this month.
