Tag Renewal Kiosk now open in Newton County

COVINGTON, Ga. - There is now another way to get your vehicle tag renewed in Newton County with the new Tag Renewal Kiosk.

The kiosk, located inside the Kroger at 5341 Highway 20 South, in Covington, is available for use Sunday through Saturday 6 a.m. to 1 a.m.

A ribbon cutting for the new kiosk will be held Dec. 7 at 2 p.m.

“With the many options of tag renewals here in Newton County from processing online, IVR-telephone, mail or visiting the office another convenience to the citizens of Newton County is here by using the kiosk located in the western part of Newton located at Kroger 5341 Highway 20,” Newton County Tax Commissioner Barbara Dingler said.

There are currently 19 locations within Georgia in which Newton County citizens can use the kiosk at any of the locations. Please visit newtoncountytax.com there is a link under news or https://dor.georgia.gov/mvd-self-service-tag-kiosk or co.newton.ga.us

Tag kiosks use scanning and touchscreen technology to securely update vehicle information. Users must simply follow the on-screen instructions and then print out documents instantly from the kiosk.

To use the kiosk:

  1. Your vehicle(s) must be registered in a participating county.
  2. You must have a valid Georgia State driver’s license.
  3. Your address must be correct on your renewal notice.
  4. You must have proof of liability insurance on file (if applicable).
  5. You must have a Vehicle Emission Inspection on file (if applicable).

If all the above requirements are met, tags may be renewed for up to 10 vehicle registrations per transaction at a kiosk. For additional information, please contact the Tax Commissioner’s Tag Office at 770-784-2020.

NEWTON COUNTY – At Tuesday’s Newton County Board of Commissioners (BOC) meeting, the board voted to contest the city of Covington’s annexation request for 520.5 acres of land along Gregory Road.
