COVINGTON, Ga. – The Newton County Grand Jury will hear the case of Christopher Michael McNabb Jan. 5, Alcovy Circuit District Attorney Layla Zon said Friday.
McNabb is currently being held in the Newton County Jail without bond charged with the October murder of his 15-day-old daughter, Caliyah.
Caliyah’s body was found Oct. 8 wrapped in cloth under a log in the woods behind the mobile home park she was reported missing from a day earlier by her mother, Cortney Bell.
McNabb was arrested that same day on a hold for Bartow County Sheriff's Office after an intensive search by deputies with the Newton County Sheriff’s Office.
He had reportedly jumped from a stopped vehicle near the Covington Bypass earlier after hearing the baby’s body had been found.
He was charged with Caliyah’s murder after an autopsy determined she died of blunt force trauma.
McNabb is charged with felony murder, malice murder, aggravated battery and concealing the death of another.
