McNabb, Bell arraigned on charges of murder

COVINGTON, Ga. - The Covington News was exclusively allowed in the courtroom with a camera Tuesday afternoon to photograph the arraignment of Christopher Michael McNabb and Cortney Marie Bell. 

McNabb and Bell are expected to be in court again for a pre-trial hearing April 10 at 8:30 a.m. 

During the arraignment, both McNabb and Bell were dressed in normal clothes and were handcuffed and shackled during the hearing. 

Baliffs in the courtroom told The Covington News, McNabb was also wearing a RACC Belt (remotely activated custody control), also known as a "shock belt." 

Both McNabb and Bell are charged in the death of their 15-day-old daughter, Caliyah C. McNabb. 

McNabb is charged with eight counts including malice murder, two counts felony murder, murder in the second degree and aggravated battery, cruelty to children in the first degree, cruelty to children in the second degree and concealing death of another.

 Bell is charged with murder in the second degree, cruelty to children and deprivation of a minor.

McNabb is represented by Anthony Carter, chief public defender for the Alcovy Judicial Circuit. Bell is represented by Bryan Frost, who was appointed as a conflict attorney.
