Georgia State University (GSU) Perimeter College Newton Campus hosted its 16th Annual Daffodil Festival on Wednesday, focused on all things artificial intelligence (AI).

An all-star group of experts led faculty and student panels through various activities throughout the day.

Simon Adebola, Rachel De La Cruz, and Savneet S. led a panel for students on Essentials of Responsible, Ethical AI. Beverly Wright, PhD, CAP, Kamlesh Ravi, and Carlos Alejandro Gorricho led a panel for faculty on AI’s Impact on the Workforce and Skill Development.

Wright also delivered a keynote called:  “What it Means to Be Human in the Age of AI: What Would Our Ancestors Think?”

The day ended with two more panels, including Jumpstart Your AI Journey and Ask the Data and AI mentors.

“We came together for our annual Daffodil Festival & Symposium on our Newton Campus,” a Facebook post from GSU read. Each year the event is held in honor of the daffodils believed to have been planted by enslaved people when the campus property was a plantation. Over the years, the flowers have continued to multiply and bloom, symbolizing the growth and resilience of the community.
