The Harlem Wizards are coming to Covington.
Presented by Piedmont Newton Hospital, the world-famous Harlem Wizards will visit Newton High School Gym on Saturday, Feb.8, 2025 at 7 p.m. (doors open at 6 p.m.), for an evening of great fun and fundraising. The Wizards will play a game against a team of Newton County teachers, administrators and community leaders.
The event is a fundraiser for Newton Education Foundation. Funds raised at this event will help our schools remove obstacles, provide great educational opportunities that deepen learning and support teachers in meeting the learning needs of all kids.
The energy at a Wizards game is electric. The laughter is infectious. The dunks are rim-rattling, high-flying and awe-inspiring. The hoop artistry, ball-handling, tricks and teamwork are mesmerizing.
What really takes it to another level is the hometown participation. The kids will have opportunities to get on the court, participate in a variety of ways and cheer on their community team. At the end of the event, all students are invited to come onto the court for a dance celebration with the Wizards.
“We are delighted to host the Wizards,” said Gail Rothman, Newton Education Foundation Executive Director. “They are superb showmen who deliver fantastic all-ages entertainment for a great cause.”
Founded in 1962, the Wizards have played over 15,000 games throughout the US that have raised over $25 million for schools and charitable causes. The Wizards have also played in over 25 foreign countries on six continents.
