At halftime of Newton High School’s football game Friday night at Sharp Stadium, the 2023 homecoming king and queen was announced.

Jehden Robinson was voted homecoming king while Jeania Guillot was voted homecoming queen.

Robinson is the son of Felix and Twawanna Robinson. He leads the Rams varsity football team as a captain with dedication and a winning smile.

A focused scholar off the field, Robinson is a member of both the BETA Club and the National Honors Society.

After graduation he plans to attend college where he will continue his football career and pursue sports medicine, helping future athletes like himself.

The daughter and granddaughter of Elcie and Solange Guillot, Guillot is a three-year veteran of the Royal Rams homecoming court.

She has many hobbies and passions but is most well known by her peers for her love of unique and innovative fashion.

She is an active model and young entrepreneur with aspirations to build her own clothing line while living life and seeing the world.

Guillot plans to attend Valdosta State University in the very near future, majoring in sports medicine and athletic training. There is little doubt her passions will take her far.

Alcovy Drumline wins first place at competition for third consecutive year
alcovy drumline 2025

Alcovy’s drumline has done it again.

On April 19, the Alcovy Tiger Band “ATB Big Sound” participated in another National marching band competition.  The Viewer’s Choice Battle of the Bands 2025 is an Invitation Only high-stepping marching band competition featuring the best high school bands from across the country.  This event has several bands and is spread out over four weeks.

During the week, the Big Sound marching band competed against bands from New Orleans, La., one band from Huntsville, Ala., one band from Nashville, Tenn., one band from Memphis, Tenn., and other bands from across Georgia.

The Big Sound drumline, “Heavy Hittas” received first Place Drumline for the third year in a row.

The drumline is under the direct instruction of my son and ATB alumni (class of 2019) Kyndle Boyland, while the overall band is under the direction of director of bands and 2025 Covington News Community Spirit Award winner, Brian Coates.
