COVINGTON, Ga. — The Highway 213 bridge over the Alcovy River is closed "until further notice," the Newton County Sheriff's Office says.
"We are awaiting to receive information from GDOT in regards to the closure," the sheriff's office posted on its Facebook page.
The bridge near Starrsville is east of Georgia Hwy. 36 near the entrance to the Sautee Bluff neighborhood.
"Please use an alternate route," the sheriff's office advised on social media.
Alternates for Hwy. 36 motorists wanting to go east on 213 could include continuing south and using Henderson Mill and Dixie roads.
