Shane Millwood will celebrate the release of his official debut album, "The Other Way" at Cowboys Hotspot in Rutledge at 8 p.m. Saturday April 28.

Son of local country legend Tommy Millwood, Shane's music is recognizable for its distinctive country style and relevant, powerful lyrics and has been featured on local well-known radio stations such as 94.9 The Bull and 92.5 The Bear.

Millwood was nominated into the final round of Georgia-Country Male Artist of the year in 2011, and his band was named Country Atlanta's Luminary Band of the Year in 2011. In the same year, two of Millwood's songs were recognized with awards from Country Atlanta, while "Will I Be Ready" earned him a spot in the Southeast Region Finals of the International Songwriting Competition for 2011.

The influence of his father - who passed away last June and to whom the album is dedicated - shines through strongly in "The Other Way" and Millwood is pleased with the outcome.

"I love the album," he said. "I wrote most of the songs about real life experience and the fact that it was released on my dad's birthday is priceless."
