ATLANTA - The Atlanta City Council has voted to let Atlanta voters decide in November whether they want alcoholic beverages sold at retail stores on Sundays.

The council voted Tuesday by a 9-2 margin to put the initiative on the Nov. 8 ballot. The city also will hold a special school board election that day.

Georgia's Legislature approved a measure this year giving communities the option of allowing Sunday sales. Many cities and counties have scheduled votes on the issue.

In Gwinnett County, 13 cities plan to hold November votes on Sunday sales.
