ATLANTA (AP) — Gov. Nathan Deal's inauguration has been set for Monday, Jan. 12 in Atlanta.
Deal will be sworn in for a second term during a 2 p.m. ceremony at the new Liberty Plaza, a large outdoor space under construction across from the Capitol. The governor and first lady Sandra Deal plan to start the day at a 9 a.m. prayer service at Mt. Paran Church in Atlanta.
Inaugural activities will begin with a statewide day of service on Jan. 10. Mrs. Deal launched the now annual event, known as "With a Servant's Heart," during the 2011 inaugural. Among the volunteer opportunities this year will be at the Atlanta nonprofit, City of Refuge.
An inaugural gala is being planned, with details yet to be released. More information can be found at www.dealinaugural.com.
