ATLANTA (AP) — Officials have determined that a tornado destroyed a mobile home, damaged a barn and toppled trees in Twiggs County.
A report from the National Weather Service estimated the tornado's peak wind speed at 105 mph as it touched down shortly before 10 a.m. Monday and traveled for less than a mile in the county southeast of Macon. No serious injuries were reported.
The tornado was rated an EF-1 on the Enhanced Fujita scale, which measures tornado intensity based on damage assessments.
The Twiggs County tornado struck on a day when forecasters issued a tornado watch for 72 counties in south and central Georgia.
