Update: Sycamore Street Pizzeria owner arrested following Social Circle shooting

Police have made an arrest following the shooting inside Sycamore Street Pizzeria in Social Circle that occurred early Sunday morning, according to the Social Circle Police Department.

At approximately 12:10 a.m. on Sunday, officers responded to an EMS assist call at the restaurant, where they discovered a white male subject suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the abdomen. The victim was later identified as Roger Watters, the owner of the Sycamore Street Pizzeria, who was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

According to a report, it was revealed that 11 people were inside the restaurant after hours. After interviewing witnesses, police discovered that Watters instigated a verbal argument and produced a handgun. Watters allegedly pointed the handgun at five of the people and then fired several shots into the ceiling.

After those shots were fired, Watters then allegedly pointed his gun at another person and was shot in self-defense by one of the patrons.

Watters was arrested and charged with five counts of aggravated assault and one count of possession of a firearm during a commission of crime. He is being held at the Walton County Jail.
