Mrs. Dorothy S. Bethel, age 95, of Covington passed away Monday, March 18, 2024. She was born October 28, 1928 in Dudley, Wisconsin to Louis and Dorothy Jane Sosnovske who have preceded her in death. Mrs. Bethel was Baptist by faith and a long-time member of Canaan Baptist Church. She worked as a dispatcher for the Covington Police Department, Mrs. Bethel also worked at White’s Department Store, and Lithonia Lighting. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading her Bible, and baking wedding cakes. Mrs. Bethel was preceded in death by her husband Raymond R. Bethel; her grandson Chris Shannon; and most recently her sister Florence Tesch.

Mrs. Bethel is survived by her daughters Karen Phillips of Melbourne, FL, Marsha Jeffries of Covington, and Cindy Clay of Eppworth, GA; her 7 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and many close friends.

Graveside Services for Mrs. Bethel will be held at 1 o’clock Saturday, March 23, 2024 at Lawnwood Memorial Park with Reverend Gene Hammonds and Chaplin Jim Ross officiating. The family will receive friends at J.C. Harwell and Son Funeral Home from 12:00 PM until 1:00 PM prior to the procession to the cemetery.
