Harvey Lamar Wilson Sr., 88, of Eatonton passed away on Monday, Aug., 20, 2018.

He was born in Porterdale, on July 18, 1930, to the late Ross Harvey and Evelyn Nell Hooten Wilson. He was preceded in death by his two sons Arthur Frederick Wilson and Harvey Lamar Wilson, Jr. 

Mr. Wilson served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He has lived in Eatonton for 64 years and was a member of the Exchange Club, Georgia Bankers Association, Eatonton Tree Board, Putnam Development Authority and served as the first chairman of the Eatonton-Putnam Chamber of Commerce.

He enjoyed bird hunting, traveling, telling jokes but most importantly spending time with his family. 

Mr. Wilson married the love of his life on June 17, 1954. He spent most of his life working as a banker with The Peoples Bank.

A church service will be held on Thursday, Aug. 23, at 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Eatonton. A graveside service will be held at Pine Grove Cemetery, and the visitation will follow.

He is survived by his wife of 64yrs. Amelia Wilson, daughter Ame (Chuck) Haley, grandchildren Charles Wilson (Blayre) Haley, Amelia Ferrell Haley, Catherine MacKay Haley, Ellen Amelia Wilson(Chase) Nye, Harvey Ashford Phillip Wilson, his sister Norma Wilson Jones and nephew Larry Joe Ross Jones.
