As we celebrate the 100 year birthday of Mary Frances Hays Wofford, we celebrate the life spirit of Mary Jo Dally Whitley, who died this past week at the age of 86. Ms. Mary Jo was born to the Dally family - a family rich in the heritage of Jersey, Social Circle and Walton County. She was married to Dr. Thomas Whitley Sr. and spent countless hours supporting him and his efforts to contribute to the growth of Columbus State University, where he was the long-time president.

The Covington News would like to take a moment to remember Mrs. Nancy VanKleeck. We became acquainted with her a few years back while she was asking for information about the jail log. She had a ministry in which she would write letters to inmates telling them about Jesus. She was able to write over 11,000 letters. She was a true woman of character. We will miss her.
