Garden Club meeting
Garden-Club-3

Wildflower women: The Conyers Garden Club met in the home of Pam Hinesley for March. After refreshments, Christopher DeGrace of the Georgia Department of Transportation offered a program on the planting of wildflowers along roadsides. GDOT partners this program with The Garden Clubs of Georgia, local garden clubs and the University of Georgia. The program was started by Virginia Callaway in 1974 when she was chair of The Birds and Wildflowers committee of The Garden Clubs of Georgia. The program not only adds beauty to highways but saves money by limiting the need for mowing. This summer, roadsides will be cut only once due to a cuts in funds.
