Young Americans Christian School's Varsity Football split their opening games of the season with a victory over Horizon  Christian and a loss on the road against Calvary Christian.

YACS improved to 1-1 Friday, Aug. 30 with a 35-0 victory over Horizon Christian.

Senior James Heft led the team with 200 yards total offense while Kyle Williams and Brandon Rhineheart led the defensive effort.

Head Varsity Football Coach Chuch McCullough said about the victory, "We have a lot of young players that really adapted to the speed of the game. First week showed how unprepared we were. However, this week we came ready to play and it paid off."

This past Friday, Aug. 6, YACS travelled to Columbus to face a strong opponent in Calvary Christian School, falling 47-14.

"Our guys fell behind early but really rallied to play a good second half," said McCullough.

Once again, James Heft had over 100 yards rushing, while Brandon Rhineheart and Kyle Williams led the defensive effort.

This Friday, Sept. 13, the YACS Varsity Football team will face New Creation at 7:30 p.m. in McDonough.
