The Alcovy Tigers football team saw more proof of progress when first year head coach Chris Edgar took a peak at the All-Region 3-AAAAAA team rosters.
In all, nine Tigers found their names on the first and second team squads, as well as the honorable mention list, with two Alcovy standouts a piece on the first and second teams respectively.
Senior all-purpose player Koby Perry was named a first team defensive back, while Zaire Taylor made the first team’s offensive line and Austin Davy was first team as a tight end and linebacker. Perry has begun catching the attention of college recruiters, as he has picked up six scholarship offers over the last several weeks — the latest coming from Dodge City Community College.
On the second team, it was senior tight end Cameron Schadl and defensive lineman Billy Tollison. The 6-foot-1, 190 pound junior Tollison had 37 total tackles, including 12 solo stops and 14 tackles for losses.
Zion Dorsett (OL), Kyrese Knox (DB/WR), Trey Smith (WR/DB) and RaiQuawn Solomon (LB) made honorable mention.
This core group of Tigers helped Alcovy to a 4-6 mark in 2016 — a marked improvement from a combined 1-19 record over the previous two seasons.
