COVINGTON, Ga. -- The Eastside Eagles finished a historic 2018 football season as an undefeated regular season region champion, and the All-Region 4-AAAA accolades reflected their prowess.
In all, 22 Eagles were named to either the all-region first team, second team or received honorable mention status, including senior Jamari Brown who took home defensive player of the year honors.
Brown, a Florida A&M commit, finished the season as the team’s second leading tackler with 81 total stops, including nine for losses. He also had five pass breakups, a pick and a quarterback sack.
Senior kicker, Kade Mote and junior punter, Ezra King swept the placekicker and punter categories, and junior quarterback Noah Cook was named first team quarterback after accounting for close to 2,500 total yards, including 1,845 passing with 26 touchdown passes and just three interceptions.
Senior tailback, Taylor Carter’s 1,000-yard season helped him garner a first team designation at running back. Other Eastside first-teasers include, junior Bryant Byrd (OL), senior Jaylen Atlow (DL), Jamari Brundage (LB), junior Jeff Haynes (DB) and seniors, Jerry Mays and Antavious Cobb who were named to the first-team as an all-purpose defender and all-purpose offensive player, respectively.
