The Covington Family YMCA capped off their summer camp schedule with their annual cheerleading camp this past week. The camp ran from Monday to Thursday, with 12 girls learning a mini competition routine during the first three days and putting on a performance in front of parents on the final day.

“The girls worked super hard and they put their minds to it, from learning stunts and tumbling to cheers and dancing,” said Coach Lauren Hum. “They did an awesome job."

Hum, who coaches cheerleading at both the Y and Young Americans Christian School, said the goal was to teach young girls about cheerleading and to “give them a little more self-confidence about themselves.”
