Newton's McCray selected in NFL draft

Demetrius McCray was selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars with the fourth pick of the seventh round (210 overall) in the 2013 NFL Draft Saturday. He was the 26th corner back selected in the draft, and the second in the seventh round - both by the Jaguars.According to draft analysis on McCray by espn.com, the former Appalachian State standout: “has above-average size and flashed at the NFLPA all-star game. He has good length and quick feet, but he has some tightness and lacks an extra gar to recover when caught out of position.

It was a storybook ending to the Lady Rams 2024-25 campaign as they conquered Grayson in the state title.Just two years prior, Newton’s girls basketball team finished 3-22 in Jawan Bailey’s first season as head coach. On Friday, he stood on the court alongside his team as state champions.
